Endowed Scholarship 2025

The James A. & Di-Wen Julie Quan STEAM Scholarship is to help women succeed in STEAM careers. There will be one $3,000 scholarship available to a Milpitas High School, Milpitas Middle College High School, or Calaveras High School Class of 2025 female student who is intending to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in STEAM (science/medicine, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics) from a four-year accredited college . This scholarship will be awarded at the MHS Senior Awards Ceremony or Calaveras HS graduation and will be administered by the Milpitas Community Education Foundation. We anticipate offering this scholarship on a annual basis.
ELIGIBILITY

Must be a senior who identifies as a woman at Milpitas High School, Milpitas Middle College High School, or Calaveras High School, graduating in the Class of 2025.

Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and provide an unofficial copy of your high school transcript.

Must plan on attending a 4-year college or university in the Fall of 2025 and taking a "full-time student" class load

Must compose a 1000-word essay on the following topic:

Why STEAM? What drew you to pursue a career in a STEAM field, specifically one that integrates both science/technology and the arts? What is your intended profession and career aspirations related to your major, with an emphasis on the role of art in your work?
The essay should describe:
