MUSD Investigative Study

New logo.png

The Milpitas Community Education Foundation (MCEF) is pleased to support a study of our K-1 students in an effort to improve student outcomes. Milpitas Elementary schools can apply for this $1,000 grant to participate in this two year study. There will be 2 grants available for this study.

This study investigates the linkage between incoming MUSD kindergarten students who have a preschool or TK experience to those who did not and how that may impact their future success. There is a significant amount of literature on this, but this study focuses on MUSD so that we can attempt to quantify the need. Based on the findings, recommendations are presented.

2024

This study is divided into three parts:

  • Data collection at the beginning of the student's Kindergarten experience

  • Data collection at the beginning of the student's First Grade experience

  • Data collection at the end of the student's First Grade experience, Data analysis, conclusion, and recommendations.

Only MUSD elementary schools may apply. Either the principal or the assistant principal can complete the grant application by the deadline. MCEF will select two schools to participate. The investigative team should plan out a 2 hour Presentation of Findings at the end of the school year (June 2025) with MCEF.

The grant will be paid in two installments of $500 and the schools determine how to use the grant funds.

  • Delivery of the Data collection, First Grade

  • Delivery/Presentation of Findings, at the end of First Grade.
