Inaugural Kids Golf Day MCEE and Bay View Golf has partnered up to introduce golf to MUSD students. On April 2, we are inviting up to 50 kids, grades 4-12, to give golf a try. We will have instructors for all levels (from no experience whatsoever, to those who compete in tournaments) there. There is NO cost for the two hour introduction.

RANDALL'S MUSIC PROGRAM RECEIVES 2021 MUSD GRANT In October 2021, MCEE is proud to announce the winner of the Annual MUSD grant goes to Randall's Music Program. This $5000 grant will help the school and district purchase needed instruments for families who can not afford to rent the instruments to participate.

COMPASSIONATE SERVICE SOCIETY DONATION WITH MCEE At the beginning of this school year MCEE partnered with the Compassionate Service Society to donate to MUSD 37,500 single use masks and 400 bottles of hand sanitizer. We want to thank the Compassionate Service Society for the partnership and generous donation.

2021 DANNY LAU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS We are proud of our two winners for the Danny Lau Memorial Scholarship for 2021, Kaelynn Tan and Victor Zamora Ramos. We wish them success in their future endeavors in furthering their education. We also want to thank our board member, Jessie Keung for administrating the scholarship this year, and for our judges, Marsha Grilli, Cheryl Jordan, and Rakhi Israni for being our judges.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2021 GIRLS OF MAGIC On May 20, the MAGIC class of 2021, completed their presentations of their projects, culminating their journey into STEAM. More Active Girls in Computing, or MAGIC is run by magic.org, who is a partner with MCEE to bring this program to MUSD. It pairs a working professional woman with our middle school girls and they meet on a weekly basis to explore STEAM. This is our 4th year offering the program and we're proud to continue to inspire our young girls in the world of STEAM. Our seven students demonstrated presentation skills as well as some awesome projects.

JACKERY DONATION TO MUSD On March 2, 2021, MCEE Founder, Robert Jung delivers 50 Jackery power stations and 30 power bars to Nicole Steward at MUSD. These power stations will provide power to chromebooks and electronics for our McKinley Vento students. MCEE honors the donation from Jackery, Inc in Fremont and their partnership to support students in need. The donation is in excess of $8,000. A huge thank you to Julie Wang, COO of Jackery, and Claire Hubel and Wei Qun E of The United Effort Org, Inc in helping MCEE secure the donation.

MCEE Completes its Mini E-waste Drive Last weekend (on 2/6) the Milpitas Community Educational Foundation, held a mini eWaste drive to help families prepare for the Lunar New Year. Over 24 families took advantage of the eWaste pickup at their homes. To ensure that we followed COVID social distancing protocols, donors were asked to leave their recyclables outside in their front porch or garage. The eWaste collection will be recycled by a recycler who will make a small donation to MCEE based on the items recycled. MCEE wishes to thank its volunteer team of Robert Jung, Joseph Weinstein, and Nancy Weinstein, who filled up a 4x8 trailer.

MCEE Hosts Its 3rd Annual Black Tie Fundraiser
While the rain and traffic attempted to be the Grinch on Friday, Dec 13, our 3rd Annual Black Tie Fundraiser showed it was no match. We had great food, awesome performances by the MHS Jazz Band and Choir, and had plenty holiday fun while raising funds for the Milpitas Community Educational Endowment and MHS Music Program. Special thanks goes out the Milpitas POA for their support! We want to thank Kansen Chu and his wife Daisy, Milpitas Vice Mayor Karina Dominguez, MUSD Board President Hon Lien, MUSD VP Chris Norwood, and MUSD Clerk Kelly Yip-Chuan for their support as well. |

MCEE Awards its First $5000 Grant to MUSD
At the Oct 8 MUSD board meeting, MCEE awarded their very first grant of $5,000 to Thomas Russell Middle School's Student Leadership program. The students were excited to receive it! The funds will be used toward transportation for their annual leadership field trip, a portable microphone/speaker system for rallies and school activities, and other equipment that will enhance their morning announcements, film-making skills, and event advertising. We are planning to make this an annual event and you can help us by donating to MCEE! |

MCEE Hosts Its 2nd Mid-Autumn Festival We held our 2nd Annual Mid Autumn Festival on Saturday, September 28 at the San Jose City College Milpitas Extension (SJCC-Milpitas). There were arts and crafts, exhibits, community talks and information, food, and performances for the community to enjoy. This was the first time it was held at SJCC-Milpitas and it was a great way to see the facility for many who had not. MCEE would like to thank its sponsors: Excel Test, First 5, Ocean Supermarket, City of Milpitas, Fresh & Natural, Le Travel, and Valley Water. In kind sponsors included SJCC-Milpitas, The Milpitas Beat, Logos, etc, Office of Dave Cortese, Dan Sinh Media, MUSD, and Tri Trinh. Also, special thanks to the performers: Wings of 100 Dance Company, the Fremont Chinese School, Pacific Music Association, Starlight Group, and Ana Naranjo’s Hispanic dance group. MCEE HOSTS ITS 3RD ANNUAL STANFORD CARDINAL DAY On Aug 31, MCEE held its 3rd Annual Stanford Cardinal Kids Day. Students from our Title 1 schools, who would be likely to be first in their family to go to college were invited to join us for a tour of Stanford and take in a football game. MCEE covered the ticket prices and tours. We want to thank Peter Salazar, a Weller teacher, who served as our tour guide. A shout out to all of our chaperones which included teachers, principals, parents, and MCEE board members. We could not have done this without their support. |

MCEE HOSTS ITS 3RD ANNUAL PRESCHOOL RESOURCE FAIR On July 27, MCEE held its 3rd Annual Preschool Resource Fair. We want to thank all of the community resources as well as our Preschool Providers that came out. The turnout was larger than last year, but we still believe in spreading the message that a preschool experience is key to future success. We want to thank the MIlpitas Police Department, c4.org, Santa Clara Public Health, Family Resource Center, ICC, Kindergarten Prep & Beyond, Milpitas Christian Preschool, and all the others who joined us. We had one family come from Newark, so we're slowly spreading the word. |

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MAGIC MENTEES The Milpitas Community Educational Endowment in partnership with MAGIC (More Active Girls in Computing) proudly congratulates it 2019 class of mentees on Thursday, May 30 at San Jose City College. This is our 2nd year of our partnership and it has been awesome. We had 6 middle schoolers and 1 high schooler from Milpitas Unified, and hosted one High school student from Evergreen HS. These girls, along with their mentors, met weekly from October to May to explore the possibilities in STEAM, and offered some awesome projects in our celebration. We plan on continuing this next year, and will be exploring a "roadshow" for 5th & 6th graders in MUSD in the fall. |

These $500 scholarships will help Lisa and Ashley pursue their studies at UCLA. MCEE CELEBRATES WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH On March 26, MCEE in partnership with the FongSong Life Foundation celebrated Women's History Month by donating 250 copies of the Yvonne Lin's book "The A-Z of Wonder Women". Yvonne was able to join us at our four Title 1 schools, Weller, Randall, Rose, and Burnett as she talked about what's it like to be an award winning product designer and consultant and author. She read her book to the 3rd grade students and the FongSong foundation was able to donate 250 copies of her book to each student. MCEE along with the schools want to thank Yvonne for her time, and the FongSong foundation for their generosity. |

6TH ANNUAL STEAM SHOWCASE A HUGE SUCCESS On Saturday, March 9, we held our 6th Annual STEAM showcase. We had 240+ students participating, representing every one of the schools in MUSD, and representation in every grade level, from Kindergarten to 12th grade. It was held at the San Jose City College, Milpitas Extension, and we had over 600+ people join us to see the hard work that our students produced. There over 100 projects that included robotics, programming, experiments, games illustrating STEAM concepts, and art integrated/inspired technology. We also had distinguished guests that included Assemblyman Kansen Chu, Mayor Rich Tran, MUSD Board President Chris Norwood, and MUSD Board VP Hon Lien, Superintendent Cheryl Jordan, Assistant Superintendent Norma Rodriguez, Assistant Superintendent Jonathan Brunson, and Former Sunnyvale Mayor Otto Lee. We also want to give a BIG THANKS to the STEAM showcase committee: Karen Muska, Brenda Lebeck, Kimi Schmidt, Chin Song, Yolie Garcia, Robert Jung. Also, we want to thank Michael Mooney and his staff at the San Jose City College, Milpitas Extension for all their support in making this event happen. |

MCEE REACHES ITS $100K MILESTONE!
The Milpitas Community Educational Endowment has reached its initial goal for raising $100,000 for the endowment this month. This positions the organization to start distributing roughly 5% ($5,000) of its value annually back to the Milpitas Unified School District. The distribution will roughly at the start of each school year in September. The goal was reached roughly 6 months ahead of its own schedule and It also allows MCEE to start planning its programs and goals for the next 5 years, through June 2024.
