the Milpitas Scholars Program

Picture
The Milpitas Scholars Program is a bold experiment that mixes an innovative parent education and mentoring program, an in-depth investigative study, and community investment in Milpitas public school families to encourage successful educational experiences. This program initially will accept up to 30 MUSD students from economically disadvantaged families who are going into Kindergarten. Upon high school graduation and successful completion of the annual objectives, students will be awarded up to a $1,000 scholarship to further their education. This is a rigorous program for students and parents as specific goals need to met every year in order to qualify.

Who can apply?
Milpitas families with a student entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2021, whose family income is less than 50% of Santa Clara County's Area Median Income (AMI). These limits are:
Household size
2 - $63,200
3 - $71,100
4+ - $78,950

Cal Hills students successfully participate in a variety of programs, including a personalized learning program tailored to their learning needs, leadership opportunities on campus and in the community, they volunteer to raise money for cancer through Relay for Life, they take rigorous engineering courses, they learn to believe in themselves and inspire those around them, and they prepare for college and careers. Most students are enrolled and registered for Community College classes with a solid plan for their future before they even graduate high school! The challenge that they still have is how they are going to pay for the expenses of college, including fees, books, supplies, and living expenses.
